Home is never far away

A short story about us

On 12 February 2017, thanks to the initiative of the Azerbaijani Society in Barcelona, the first House of Azerbaijan – Casa Azerbaiyán opened its doors in Barcelona, Spain.

The center’s first administrative space, located on Pg. Sant Joan (Gràcia district), was generously offered free of charge by Xavier Medina Ortiz, member of the Barcelona Lawyers Collegium and head of Medina & Associats law firm.

The opening of Casa Azerbaiyán drew significant media attention — Spain’s most respected news agency Agencia EFE published the story, which was later featured in El Periódico, La Vanguardia, Mundo Deportivo, and El Confidencial.

Since December 2019, with the support of the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Casa Azerbaiyán has continued to develop its mission at its location in the Eixample district — promoting cultural activities and friendship between Azerbaijanis living in Spain and the local community.
